Swimming Pools (Public)
Public Swimming Pools are required to comply with the Health (Aquatic Facilities) Regulations 2007. This includes pools associated with recreation centres, caravan parks, hotels, motels, bed and breakfast facilities, lodging houses, unit complexes with more than 30 units, hospital and hydrotherapy pools, health clubs and mine sites.
Prior to construction of a public swimming pool, approval is to be obtained from the Western Australian Department of Health. Once approved, legislation requires Shire of Broome Environmental Health Officers to collect a monthly water sample to be analysed for bacteria and amoebae, ensuring a safe environment that will not impact the health of swimming pool users.
Further information on public swimming pools can be obtained from the Shire's Environmental Health Services.
