Beach Inspectors
Shire of Broome Beach Inspectors do roving patrols of beaches extending from Gantheaume Point to Cable Beach and Coconut Well. Their primary function is to provide a mobile first aid and rescue service and promote public compliance of local government by-laws.

Beach Lifeguards
From April to October Shire Lifeguards, in partnership with the Broome Surf Lifesaving Club maintain daily patrols of the recommended swimming area on Cable Beach. This area is marked by red and yellow flags and is situated adjacent to the Broome Surf Lifesaving Club.
Lifeguards provide a first aid and rescue service on Cable Beach and can also answer any questions relating to beach safety, jellyfish, tides and beaches.
When visiting the beach please ensure that you swim between the red and yellow flags.

Beach Wheelchairs
The Shire has two custom-built water-submersible wheelchairs that allow people with disabilities easy navigation across the sand and into the water.

Beach Vehicle Access
Cable Beach – The Cable Beach Vehicle access ramp is located directly in front of the Cable Beach Resort, at the northern end of Cable Beach Road West. All vehicles entering the beach must proceed to the north of the exposed rocks. The area to the south of the vehicle access ramp is prohibited for vehicles. It is also prohibited for vehicles to park in front of the vehicle access ramp. Please observe the 15km speed limit at all times whilst driving on the beach.
To limit the impact of vehicles on nesting turtles in Broome, Cable Beach will be closed at night to all vehicles throughout the turtle nesting season from 8pm to 6am, 1 October to 28 February. Cable Beach will also be closed to all vehicles two hours either side of the high tide when it is nine metres or greater. The gate at the Cable Beach Amphitheatre will be locked into place during the temporary closures. Amphitheatre vehicle access is permitted at all other times.
Gantheaume Point – Vehicle access to Gantheaume Point is restricted to 500m north of the vehicle access point. The limit is marked by a sign in the sand dunes.
